Reading/Writing/Drawing:  Some great books we read were: A Xylophone for X-Ray Fish, Fox in the Socks, Alphabet Mystery (and the missing letter X) and our weekly devotion.  We mastered writing the letter X with only 2 slanted big lines! The ZooPhonic for the letter X is: x —fox (xavier fox): Crossing your index fingers, move them as if you were knitting. Say the letter sound /x/. (“ks”). We drew pictures in our drawing journals of things that started with or ended in X.

Science/Math/Skills: Our science this week was fun facts about the Fox. Some facts we  learned are that foxes have whiskers on their legs and face, which help them to navigate and their eyes are vertical, similar to a cat. The class also had fun learning all about X-rays and telling stories from our own experiences of having an X-Ray! The math focus this week was subitizing (the ability to quickly identify the number of items in a small set without counting). Your kids have come a long way in mastering this important skill for next year.

Devotion: Mathew 18:3 EXcept ye be converted and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. We discussed that to “convert”  means to turn away from sin and turn to Jesus in faith.

A big highlight of the week was Spring Planting Day with Ms. Julie and Ms. Lisa.! After learning about the importance of plants and their benefit to our planet, each child was able to plant a flower to take home.

Next week we will move onto the Letter Y. Some reminders for next week…
