Well – I’ve missed chapel for the last month it feels like, due to my husband’s illness. It was so good to be back this past week and begin the Easter story with your children. We began by seeing Jesus tell 2 of his disciples to ask a man if they could borrow his colt. He told them to tell him, “The Master needs it,” if he asked.  Jesus’ disciples put coats on top of the colt’s back and Jesus rode the colt into the town of Jerusalem. All the people were waving palm branches shouting, “Hallelujah, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.” They threw their coats on the road – they wanted to honor Jesus, their king. After Jesus rode through town he went to a special place with his disciples to have his last meal. This was called Passover. As Jesus had this meal with them he broke the bread and said, “Remember me when you eat of the bread, for this is my body that will be broken for you.” As he drank from the cup, he said, “Remember me as you drink from the cup, for this represents my blood that was shed for you.” Then he told them that He was going to have to go away. Then he washed their feet as an act of service and love and told them to do this for each other. Many of the children already know that on Easter we celebrate and acknowledge Jesus dying on the cross for all the bad things (sin) that happens in the world and that he rose on the third day.   We talk about Jesus being alive in our hearts today every week in chapel. We will continue on with the story next week. Our bible verse this month is – This is how we know what love is…..Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. 1 John 3:16. We’ve also learned 2 new songs as well – 1-2-3 Jesus is Alive and It’s A Happy Day. See if they can sing them to you. If any of you would like to join us for chapel over the next 2 weeks, we’d love to have you.
