It is hard to believe that we have been in school for an entire month (despite Hurricane Florence and her disruptions)! The children have truly seemed to settle into a routine here at LCLC. The second half of the month flew by and as I sit writing about the last two weeks of September, I cannot believe October is only hours away!

Since my last post, we have accomplished SO much. Our focus was on the letters E and F and the number 2.! The children learned more Zoophonics (I sent a description of the program home with you all in your folders at the beginning of the year) and we have met “Ellie Elephant” and “Fancy Fish”. Every letter has an animal assigned to it and each animal makes the sound of that letter along with a motion of some sort to help the kids remember. Please ask your child what Ellie Elephant or Lizzy Lizard or Fancy Fish says and does…it’s priceless! Every week we review the past letters before introducing the new one. We play a game at circle time called “Scat the Cat”. Scat the Cat changes her colors after we sing to her (I switch out one color for another and then turn her around for the children to see). They LOVE it and ask for Scat a lot! The poem goes as follows:   “I am Scat the Cat, I’m sassy and I’m fat. I can change my colors…JUST…LIKE…THAT!”

We are learning the Pledge of Allegiance, the days of the week, months of the year, seasons and constantly working on how to sit still at circle time! :0)

Our class plays with our friend Mat Man who is made up of “big lines”, “small lines” and “curvy lines”….all of which when laid out correctly will form every letter of the alphabet. We have started to learned 3 songs about Mat Man, big lines and where to start your letters. SO much fun for them and they are learning SO much without realizing it… IT’S A BEAUTIFUL THING!!

We have painted, read books together and independently, played on the playground, learned about Adam and Eve and God’s creations……not mention Teddy Bear Day! We not only brought in our favorite fluffy friends but also went on a bear hunt out on the playground which wound up a little green frog hunt as well! We sang “Going on a Bear Hunt” and painted bears with bristle brushes. Not to mention the construction across from our playground and getting our worship on at chapel with Miss Julie! I could go on for much longer but will stop and simply say that everyone of your children are finally settled and enjoying school! Smiles abound and we are so proud of them! Lastly, please welcome Mariana Miranda to our family of 3’s and 4’s. She is a delight to have and such a sweet child. Our class is now complete with Liam and Mariana…..14 in all! :0)

Please enjoy the pictures below.  I wish you could all be flies on the wall in class each and every day to see and hear the sweetest of comments and thoughts that come from each child. I could write a book! I am looking forward to an amazing year filled with love, learning and laughter! . Thank you for allowing Jess and I to have the privilege of teaching your precious children!

Blessings,

Ms. Kim and Ms. Jess
