Devotion:  We read a great devotion about an unseen hero, the earthworm, and how we might not see what they do but that doesn’t make them any less important. Others may not see what we do but God sees all and knows who the real heroes are. We also saw the Ugly Duckling story on the Smartboard which taught us to treat others with kindness no matter how they look!

Books We Read: My Little U book, Umbrellabird’s Umbrella, The Ugly Duckling, Scardycrow, When the Leaf Blew In, The Biggest Pumpkin Ever,  and The Pumpkin Circle.

Science: In music, fun, and fitness we visited Ms. Straw’s (Ms. Amy) pumpkin patch where the children learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin. They had so much fun, see pictures below!

Math: We counted by 1’s up to 34 and counted by 10’s up to 100. They also weighed, measured and used unifix cubes to count how high their pumpkins were. Weren’t those pumpkins amazing!?

HWT: U is one of the only letters that does not use wooden pieces. We practiced in different ways to form the letter and finished the week with tracing it. They also highlighted the upper case and lower case U in a poem.

Drawing: The children drew pictures of things that begin with U. They drew everything from umbrellas to Unicorns.

Pictures below were taken in centers and music, fun and fitness.
