What a super busy and fun filled month we have had in our 3’s class thus far! The weather has finally changed, is a bit cooler and we seem to be through with hurricanes! Hallelujah!!

The highlight of the first two weeks was our unit on Community Helpers and the visit from the Awendaw firefighters! The kids just loved watching how a fireman gets dressed for a fire and how he is still a man inside his suit who isn’t to be afraid of. They had the opportunity to walk around and through the truck, sit in the seats and ask  the firemen questions. We read books about calling 9-1-1 and even put out our own chalk flames on the sidewalk with water bottles (see pictures below)! We also had “Construction Worker” day and had the opportunity to build with all sorts of different types of toys.

The children have learned about the letters “T” (Timothy Tiger), “I” (Inny Inchworm) and “H” (Honey Horse) and the sounds they make. We have practiced tracing the letters with our fingers in shaving cream as well as using PlayDoh to form them. We learned about farm animals, did a “Moo-magic” experiment with milk, painted with John Deere Tractors and talked about how God created animals to help feed and clothe us. We spent time in class (as well as in Music, Fun & Fitness) learning about the season of “Fall”. Lastly, we had so much fun with “Cowboy Day…dressed as cowboys, ate special snack around a pretend campfire, read cowboy books, rode pool noodle horses, mined for gems in rice bins and even lassoed bulls with hula hoops! Such a fun day for all!

During circle time, we continue to review the days of the week and the months of the year, sing songs and just have plain old fun!! Please enjoy the pictures of your children and their friends. Jess and I are blessed with such a sweet and loving class! They hold hands walking from activity to activity and even hug each other when it is time to leave at the end of each day….friendships are blooming for sure!

Blessings,

Ms. Kim
