One more month! The countdown to summer is on… Here is what we will be doing in May.
Theme: Our theme is God Wants Us to Show Kindness.
Other Themes: Pond Life, Bugs and Butterflies, and the Ocean Life.
Bible Verse: An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up. -Proverbs 12:25
Handwriting: We have learned how to write all of our letters. Students are practicing writing their first and last names. We continue to practice writing numbers 1-20.
Reading: We have one more letter of the week- J- and will be reviewing letter sounds. Please review these over the summer. We are doing an Alphabet Countdown as we count down the days until summer break.
Math: We are reviewing numbers 1-20, counting, number order, money, measurement, time, as well as continuing to work on adding and subtraction. The math workbook will be sent home for practice over the summer.
Science– We are studying Ocean Life. Our field trip to Fort Moultrie will reinforce this science unit.
Important Dates– Student evaluations will be sent home at the end of May.
Fort Moultrie/Ocean Seining Field Trip- Please arrive at 8:30 on Friday, May 3 at Fort Moultrie. Please return Field Trip form and money.
Mother’s Day Celebration- Please join your child in our classroom at 9:00 on Friday, May 10, to celebrate Mother’s Day. Please feel free to send an aunt, grandmother, or special friend if you cannot come. We look forward to treats, surprises, and seeing our K-5 moms.
Summer Birthday Celebration- TBA- No Parents
End of the Year Celebration- We will have ice cream to celebrate the end of the year on May 22.- No Parents
Graduation- Graduation is at 9:30 on Thursday, May 23. Exciting!
