Love is in the air in K-5!  Here is what we will be studying this month.

Our theme is God is love.

Our Bible verse is –Love the Lord with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and love your neighbor as yourself.  –Luke 10:27

Our units are Valentine’s Day, Presidents- George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, Dental Health, and Healthy Bodies.

Handwriting– We are working on writing last names.  Our letters this month are X,  Y, Z, and  C.

Reading-  We will be reading books about Valentines that have some of our favorite characters in them- Pete the Cat and Fancy Nancy.  We will read about President’s Day and learn about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln from some biographies.  We will learn about making healthy food choices from the Berenstain bears in Too Much Junk Food.

Math– We will continue with addition/subtraction and writing our numbers.  On Valentine’s we will count and graph candy hearts.  We will focus on money this month and learn coin values and how to count coins.

Social Studies– We will study the job of the president, our flag, and talk about important monuments in Washington, DC.

Science– We will discuss good dental health and will learn about our teeth.  We will also talk about healthy bodies (eating and exercise) and discuss making good choices when choosing our food.
