Devotion: We learned all about the Armor of God through book and a couple of Smartboard videos and songs.  The children brought home a color, cut, and glue page that they worked hard on to help remind them how to put the armour on. Ask them to sing the song they learned for you!

We also read a devotion about Ants and how they work together to carry big things that are too heavy for one to carry alone. That shows us how we need each other and how important team work can be. We also learned what it looks like underneath an ant mound and how big they can actually be underground.

Books We Read: My Little A Book, The Adventures of Abby Alligator, An Ants Day Off, On The Moon, and Amelia Bedelia Makes A Friend.

Science: The children learned about Astronauts. They got to watch a video on the Smartboard about the different jobs an Astronaut does and what it looks like in the day and life of an astronaut in space.  They also learned a little bit about gravity by doing a little experiment with an object.

Math: We counted by 1’s and 10’s using our calendar and marble jar. We also counted apple seeds on apple cut outs and matched it to the corresponding number.

HWT: Two big lines and one little line make the letter A. We used the HWT manipulatives to help us learn how to form the letter, and also practiced writing it a few times. We highlighted the upper case and lower case A in a poem about acrobats.

Phonics: In addition to learning the sound the letter of the week makes, we are beginning to put the letters together to read 3 and 4 letter words. We will also begin to learn some sight words.

Drawing: We drew pictures of things that begin with the letter A. They drew everything from apples to alligators.

Journal:. They drew what they did for their kindness project last week

We had a special visitor this week! Miss Sherry from Kids Teeth taught us how to take care of our teeth, see picture below.
