This week we learned about kindness , koala bears and kangaroo’s.

We learned that a baby kangaroo is called a joey and is carried in a pouch in the mama kangaroos tummy. Kangaroos can jump up to 25 feet in one leap and can jump 6 feet high! We had fun playing  a game to see if  we could jump as far as a kangaroo.

We also learned about koala bears. Koala bears not bears at all- they are marsupials. Koala bears eat eucalyptus leaves. We had fun making a cute koala bear this week in art.

We read  A World of Kindness, I Can Be Kind, Kite Day and Knock – Knock Who’s There.

We talked about kindness and how we can express kindness to others. We challenged the class with a “Kindness Project”. Each child brought home a bag filled with 2 Hershey kisses and the Letter K. The goal was to commit a random act of kindness for a family member and leave behind a kiss and the “K”. We followed this up the next day with illustrating the act they committed in their drawing journals-so sweet!

We continue counting to 100 by 1’s , 5’s, and 10’s. We work each day with a different manipulative to help us write and sound out the letter of the week. This week being the letter K.
