Autumn is finally arriving and “school closing hurricanes” are finally leaving…God is SO good! We have enjoyed having a normal Tuesday, Thursday month of school and have had a super fun time being busy, learning and playing. Here are some of the highlights from the first half of October:
The children have learned about the letters “T” (Timothy Tiger), “I” (Inny Inchworm) and “H” (Honey Horse) and the sounds they make. We have practiced tracing letters with our fingers on Ziploc bags full of shaving cream….fun stuff! The children have learned about community helpers and how THEY can be a community helper as well. We talked about doctors, nurses, teachers, policemen and firemen. The kids sang and acted out firefighting songs, colored pictures of firemen, read an interactive book about 9-1-1, wore fire hats and made fire trucks! They got to build with different types of blocks as construction workers and wore hats too! One day we were mail carriers, wrote letters, mailed them and pretended to deliver them as well! We have spent a lot of time working in centers with our friends sorting colors, learned about farm animals and how God created them to help feed and clothe us and have spent time in class (as well as in Music, Fun & Fitness) learning about the season of “Fall”. We spent time pretending to be farmers, gathering “lost” balloon sheep and bringing them back to the barn as well as tractor painting. During circle time we have been working on the Pledge of Allegiance, singing the days of the week song and saying our prayers! Playground time is so important and so much fun for the kids…. not just to get out and run around, but to also teach them how to walk in a line, wait their turn for playground equipment, share outdoor toys and use outdoor imaginative play. Jess and I are blessed with such a sweet and loving class! Please enjoy the pictures below…..I just love each and every one of them and choosing pictures to post is SO hard!
Blessings,
Ms. Kim
