Devotion: Our W scripture was 1 John 4:19. We love Him because He first loved us. We also read a devotion called Watch out for Wildcats. It taught to use our words instead of our hands when we get angry or frustrated!
Books We Read: My Little W Book, Pete The Cat I Love My White Shoes, The Little Raindrop, and Caught In A Web.
Science: The children learned about the water cycle. We read books and watched a cool video about it on the Smartboard. We also saw it rain in a jar with a cool science experiment using a jar of hot water and a bag full of ice. Be sure to ask your child about it and see if they can tell you the water cycle. Also ask them to sing you the song they learned to help them remember!
Math: We counted by 1’s, 5’s, and 10’s up to 100. We also used dice to roll for some counting and addition activities.
HWT: Four big lines form the letter W. We used the HWT manipulatives to help us learn how to form the letter, and also practiced writing it a few times. We highlighted the upper case and lower case W in a poem.
Drawing: The children drew pictures of things that begin with W. They drew everything from watermelons to wheels.
Journal: The children drew a picture of something they would wish for if they had a wishing well.
Phonics: We are learning to read 3 and 4 letter words. We will also start learning some site words.
