Devotion: We read from my favorite devotion book, Five Minute Devotions For Children. It’s a wonderful devotion that uses animals to teach us about God and His character. This week we read about Fleecy Fighters and Eggs, Polliwogs and Frogs. Ask your child to tell you about them!
Books we read: My Little F book, Fifi Ferret’s Flute, There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly, Five Little Speckled Frogs, and Better Move On Frog. We also put out a variety of books with either titles or subjects that begin with the letter each week.
Science: We learned about the life cycle of a frog…… from tadpole to adult. Did you know frogs (tadpoles) are born with gills but develop lungs as they grow!! We also did a life cycle sequencing activity to reinforce it!! We watched a video on the life cycle of a frog on the Smartboard, which was really awesome! The children also learned about sinking verses floating. They watched a smartboard video about water/object density and then Ms. Ellen conducted an experiment to show them. Ask them to tell you what we used to make the carrot float and sink.
Math: We count using the calendar and the 100th day chart. We also use the calendar for skills from counting within columns to learning today, yesterday and tomorrow.
HWT: We used one big line and two little lines to form the letter F. We formed the letter in many different ways and finished the week by tracing and writing it in their workbooks. We also highlighted the upper and lowercase F in a poem.
Drawing: The children drew pictures of things that begin with the letter F. We drew everything from frogs to fire trucks!
Next week will be all about the letter E……Have a super great weekend!
