Hello School families,

Reading/Writing/Drawing: Our literature activity this week was from the book “Elmer (the Patchwork Elephant)”, a story about the celebration of individuality and the power of laughter. Your child created their own unique patchwork elephant! We also drew pictures in our drawing journals of things that started with the letter E. Finally, we mastered recognizing, sounding and writing the Letter E-yeah!

Math: We counted daily by 1’s and I introduced the concept of counting by 10’s as we countdown to the 100th day of school. Another math focus this week was on estimation. The class learned to estimate the number of items in a jar by first observing, counting out what 5 of that item looked like and then making their own estimate. We are Excellent Estimators!

Science: Elephant Facts and Planet Earth. Did you know that elephants spend 16 hours a day eating and only sleep about 2 hours a day? The class also enjoyed learning many fun facts about the planet we live on as well as making an Earth craft. This craft focused on tearing small pieces of construction paper (activity to help build muscles in hand for correct pencil grip) and then gluing the coordinating color onto paper to represent the Earth’s water and land regions.

Devotion:From the book “My ABC Bible Verses”…Even a child is known by his deeds. Proverbs 20:11  People can tell what kind of child you are by the way you act. When people see the love of Jesus in you, they want to know about our Savior.

I have attached several super cute pictures of our week together. Next week we will focus on the letter H, completing our Original Artworks and a visit from our local firefighters. Have a great weekend!

In Christ,

Erin
