Devotion: Our Z scripture was Luke 19:5. Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house. We read a devotion about Zebras called Safety Stripes, it taught us the importance of team work! We continue to talk about our bible verse and how to be a “bucket filler”. They are great at filling a bucket, ask them to do it at home!
Books We Read: Put Me In The Zoo, 1 2 3 To The Zoo, View At The Zoo, What Is At The Zoo, Dear Zoo, and Zack The Lazy Zebra.
Science: We learned all about our zoo-phonics animal, the Zebra. Did you know that their stripes keep them safe? Ask your child why!
Math: We counted by 1’s, 5’s, and 10’s up to 100. The children are also learning to identify coins and count by them! We will begin writing numbers next week.
HWT: One big line and two little lines form the letter Z. We used the HWT manipulatives to help us learn how to form the letter, and also practiced writing it a few times. We highlighted the upper case and lower case Z in a poem about a Zebra.
Drawing: We drew pictures of things that begin with Z, they drew everything from Zippers to Zebras.
The children have begun to read early reader books. We started our first one this week called, Who is at the Zoo? We read it together each morning this week. The book was sent home on Thursday, please let your child read it to you! They are doing an awesome job!
