Devotion: Our Y scripture was John 15:14. You are my friends if you do whatever I command you. We have been talking about the Easter story for the last two weeks! Ask them to tell you what they know. We sent home a envelope with some prompts to help them tell the story! We continue to read our alphabet animal devotions, working on our bible verse for the month, saying the Lord’s Prayer and filling buckets.
Books We Read: My Little Y Book, Jelly Bean The Unbreakable Egg, The Yak Who Yelled Yuk, and Happy Easter.
Science: We learned what scientist know about yawns and did a little class experiment with it! We found out that yawning is contagious and the average duration of a yawn is about 6 seconds.
Math: We counted by 1’s, 5’s, and 10’s! Math concepts are used on a daily bases in circle time and in the various activities we do. We will start learning to write numbers after we finish up the alphabet.
HWT: One small slanted line and one big slanted line form the letter Y. We used the HWT manipulatives to help us learn how to form the letter, and also practiced writing it a few times. We highlighted the upper case and lower case Y in a poem.
Drawing: We drew pictures of things that begin with Y. They drew everything from Yaks to yarn.
Next week I will begin to re-evaluate each child on the areas that they received a check or check minus on back in October. After the evaluations are complete I will send them home.
