We had an awesome first full week in fours class A! We were letter L focused all week with all the lessons and activities we did! The letter bags were fun for them to share and got them thinking and saying words that begin with the letter L. We read books and devotions beginning with the letter L. Be sure to ask them about the book we watched on the Smartboard called The Little Lamb Who Laughed. We highlighted the upper and lower case L in a poem about a ladybug, there were 15 in all. They absolutely loved getting to use a highlighter! The children also drew 4 pictures that start with the letter L……they drew everything from lemons to lollipops! We talked about Living and Non-Living things in science. On the Smartboard we watched Cookie Monster explain the difference between living and nonliving, they loved it so much, ask them about it! They even drew some pictures of living and nonliving things in their journals. Handwriting Without Tears (HWT) is going great! The children loved all the manipulatives that we use to teach the letter. We also learned some interesting facts about Ladybugs in one of our devotions. Did you know a Ladybug smells with their feet? They started learning Zoo-phonics so be sure to ask them to tell you the animals names and the sound the letter makes. We made some super cute crafts….some we will send home and some we will keep until the end of the year for their end of the year books.
