Falling into Fun!

We have such a sweet class this year and we are enjoying the fall weather and the many wonderful things that come with the season. Parents check your monthly calendars for the letters, color, shape and numbers that we are focusing on in November. Our monthly Bible verse is also listed on each calendar, along with special events and parties. Please note for November that we originally had the entire Thanksgiving week off, but after the hurricane, Charleston County schools took back Monday and Tuesday of that week, so we will be open for school those days as well. Many families already made plans to travel, so do not worry if your child will miss those days. I will be out myself those days as we had already made plans, but Miss Vanessa will be here and our favorite, experienced substitute teacher, Miss Joanne, who has been working with us for many years.

This month we are talking about the change of seasons, fall leaves and being thankful. At circle time we sing our prayers, the weather song, days of the week song, do our count-to-ten blast-off, and talk about the calendar and letter of the week. Our special helper holds the flag while we recite the pledge of allegiance and he or she is our line leader all day! He or she also gets to hand out the lunches at lunch time. We rotate helpers every day, going in alphabetical order, so each child gets many turns throughout the year. They love being the special helper!

We will begin talking about the first Thanksgiving soon, and we plan to make a cute turkey craft using leaves as the feathers. So take a walk with your sweet child and gather up some pretty leaves for us to use! Thank you for sharing your precious children with us – we are most grateful for them and for you.
