Letter Y Week:
Reading/Writing/Drawing: We read: The Yak Who Yelled Yuck, Yertle the Turtle, God Gave Us You and Jelly Bean and the Unbreakable Egg. We drew 4 pictures of things that start with Y for our drawing journals. The Zoophonic for letter Y is “Yancy Yak says Ya” and the motion is making your hand into a telephone and act as you are “yaking” on the phone.
Science/Math/Skills: One science during Y week was about an animal related to the bovine-the Yak. Did you know Yaks have a cleft or split hoof, which makes them agile over rocky or icy ground? Another science was yawning. We talked about yawning being contagious and the possible reasons we yawn. Many think it’s because the brain lacks oxygen, but according to a new study the reason is yawning helps cool the brain. We had fun yawning throughout the day and seeing if it was contagious to a friend around us!
Devotion: The Easter Story. Ask your child to tell you the order of the Easter Story with the cutouts they brought home!
