Hello Parents!
It is hard to believe that we are already nearing the end of the first month of 2019! January is flying by and the children have done a great job jumping right back into the school routine after all the breaks since Christmas! I’d like to take a moment to thank you for all of the wonderful gifts, treats, and cards which you gave us for the holidays. We are very blessed to simply have your children in our lives let alone all the kindness and consideration. Thank you! Below is a summary of what we have been doing the past two weeks:
- Theme – God’s Winter Wonderland
- Units – New Beginnings, Winter Weather
- Bible Verse – “Come follow me:, Jesus said, “And I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19
- Number – 9
- Letters – P (Peewee Penguin) and B (Bubba Bear)
- Color – Blue
- Shape – Oval
While in our classroom, we have been talking about winter weather (despite the unseasonably warm temperatures lately!). We learned about winter animals such as penguins and polar bears, about melting and freezing and even about snow snowmen. The kids did a fun experiment to learn about how God gave the winter animals blubber under their fur, feathers and skin to keep them warm in such a freezing place where they live. The children put their hands into ice water and then again, but inside of a “blubber glove” made of Ziploc bags and Crisco shortening. They were amazed that their little hands couldn’t feel ANY cold water when inside the “blubber glove”! We have been doing a lot of painting with brushes and dot painting. The kids are really taking their time and doing a great job with their artwork each day. We have had a great time out on the playgrounds taking full advantage of the warmer weather as well. We look forward to talking more about friendship and winter animals over the last few days of January. Enjoy the pictures below!
Much Love,
Ms. Kim
