Hello Families! Our fantastic friends had a fabulous week finding out all there is to know about “F”! We flip flopped like frogs, frolicked like ferrets and made lots of funny faces!! Can you count the f’s you just read? We did that too! We read the books: Countdown to Fall, Fidgety Fish & Friends, Fifi Ferret’s Flute, A Frog Thing and From Tadpole to Frog.
Ask your child to write the letter F for you! Remind them to start at the top, make a big line down, jump back to the top for one little line across, then another little line across in the middle of big line.
Our science this week was about the life cycle of the frog -from egg to adult. We learned a frog is an amphibian spending part of its life in water and part of its life on land. We also learned about Floating vs. Sinking. For math we practiced daily counting daily and number recognition.
Our devotion this week was “Fleecy Fighters”. This devotion talked about the bighorn sheep who use their strength by fighting one another to get their way. And sometimes people tend to use their hands instead of their words in the same way. The class discussed that God would rather see us talk about our problems. When we are peaceful and friendly, we understand each other better and we understand God better too! Psalm 37:8 Stop your anger! Turn from your rage! Do not envy others-it only leads to harm.
Finally, I introduced the ZooPhonic for Letter F. The Zoophonic for letter F is: Francy Fish: With your hands in front of your chest, place the palm of one hand on the back of the other hand to form a fish (make sure you have a thumb on each side). Then wiggle your thumbs and say the letter sound, “f” (sustained sound).
Next week we will move onto the letter “E”. Wishing you a restful weekend!!
Joyfully,
Erin
