Devotion: Our J scripture was John 14:6. Jesus said to them, “I am the way, the truth, and the life and no one gets to the Father except through Me”. We also read the book If Jesus Came To My House and talked about how special that would be.
Books We Read: My Little J Book, Jaguar’s Jungleberry Jamboree, If Jesus Came To My House, and Jump Frog, Jump.
Science: We learned all about Jellyfish. Did you know that they are not considered a fish, but a Jellie? The children even watched them swim on a science video.
Math: We counted by 1’s and 10’s up to 100. The children also played a game estimating jelly beans and played a few Storybots games.
HWT: There are no wooden pieces for the letter J. We did use the HWT manipulatives to learn the letter J. We also practiced writing it. We highlighted the upper case and lower case J in a poem.
Journal: The children also drew things that begin with the letter J, they drew everything from jaguars to jelly beans.
We learned the nursery rhyme Jack Be Nimble. It is very important to learn to rhyme, it is one of the best pre-reading skills to have. We practiced a bit, but please practice at home as well. We even practiced jumping over a real candle stick! See picture aboce. An individual picture of each child jumping over will be emailed to you…. so fun!!!
